The Community in Manitou Springs
Few things compare to the beauty of the towering and rugged Colorado Rocky Mountains. Here you will find peaceful layers of snow covering these ancient mountains in the winter months, while warm and beautiful sunny skies set the tone for the busy buzz of the summer season. Within a tiny mountain valley that had once been sacred ground for many Native American tribes in years gone by, in the small town of Manitou Springs, you will find that a most amazing place of refuge still remains. This place of refuge is a place to belong, a haven for the lonely and weary soul, where we are free to love one another just as our Creator loves us.
Our community is a busy hive of 7 families and about 12 single people. Here we train our children at home, cook meals for one another, operate our 24 hour Maté Factor Café, work on our Forest Keepers Tree Service, and deliver organic produce. Above all, we strive to be available to meet one another's pressing needs. In August of 2008 we opened our new Community Foods store, where we offer organic produce and healthy, wholesome foods at a less-than-wholesale price.
24/6 is our motto at our Maté Factor Café. At our café we specialize in a variety of yerba maté drinks, as well as a variety of delicious sandwiches, salads, and wraps. The only part of the week we are not open is when we stop to prepare for, and participate in our Sabbath.
This is our set apart day to spend time with one another, our families and the sojourners among us. Our Sabbath starts with a vibrant celebration on Friday night. We break out our instruments and come together with singing, dancing and listening to one another express the deep things that are on our hearts. A special meal is enjoyed with one another and our guests. No strangers to having guests, we are earnestly seeking for those who have the same heart as we do.
On a daily basis we gather together morning and evening to sing, speak and worship. Our meals are taken together. We work together to provide for each other. Coming to a common understanding is a priority in areas where we may have conflicts with one another. We know that it is our unity that will prove to the world that the Father sent His Son, Yahshua.
We love to have guests, and appreciate them entering in on our life with us. Everyone is needed and necessary. We warmly invite you to visit us or to give us a call. Come visit us here at the foot of Pike’s Peak, where God’s tender shoot is springing forth, bound to become a mighty tree.
