THE WALKING TRIBE ( By: Jose, friends and family)
We have come to the realization that our culture and society are in a dramatic decline. Materialism, greed, exploitation, and supernatural believes are some of the causes for the increased erosion of human values.
We have invested our energies working for peace and social changes, however we came to realize, that our work while necessary and gripping, is focused outwardly . We believe that our society must be changed with a totally new vision, a cultural and ethical revolution from within. As a result, we seek to change our basic assumptions and patterns of daily living.
We can accomplish this by simply walking away from all the traditional negative patterns and decadent molds of our inherited culture.
We are the Walking Tribe, We will walk toward a new future and a new lifestyle.
Socially we envision a community lifestyle that overcomes the isolation of the individuals, couples, and separate families. We intend to promote a tribal type of extended family with similar interests and goals, at the same time we consider the physical privacy of each individual to be an elementary right and need. We also seek to correct the isolation of individuals and nuclear families which has occurred in the industrial age. Children and adults alike need to share emotional and physical support with one another. Community members of the Walking Tribe will participate together in the living and growing of each other.
Economically, we place greater trust in the strength of an integrated living
working group than in separated competing economic units. We are of the opinion that a tribal-like commune can benefit greatly in sharing resources and skills, and afford greater security than bank accounts , individual properties, and insurance companies promises. These goals of course presuppose a meeting of the minds and a consensus of the group.
Without retreating into economic isolation , we will work for self sufficiency in the production of food, (vegetable gardening) in the production of marketing items, (pottery and other crafts) and in the application of our individual specializations. (medicine, engineering, building contractor, etc..) We believe that by combining all our intellectual and physical resources we will benefit as individuals with the full support of the Walking Tribe, and hopefully serve as a model for other to fallow.
