Kaleidoscope Village (Central Austin Cohousing)
Austin, Texas,
United States
As of October 2008, we are finishing the first phase of infrastructure construction. Our projected move-in date (subject to change) is July 2009. The site is 6 acres in Austin, Texas. We will have 37 homes - all duplexes except for three over the common house - clustered around a community green, with two acres left as organically maintained green space. Twenty-two homes are already spoken for; the remaining will be made available for reservation in a few months, when pricing will be more predictable. Prospective buyers must go through an orientation/self-selection process. We practice consensus decision-making and wish to appeal to a wide range of household types and ages. We have no ideological viewpoint other than a wish to live in a close-knit and interdependent community.
