Unity Elder Commune
Portland, Oregon,
United States
(no physical address yet. will be in Washington county, oregon)
I am starting a community for the aging. It will be in Washington County, Oregon. Members will be required to help each other to the best of their ability. All members will need only minimal care. Able body caretakers will be present but will not be full-time caregivers. Wheelchair and walker accessible. Geared more for those who can not afford traditional Adult care homes. Daily activities offered. Basically a community where you can age gracefully and give help to your neighbor. A place you can call home and your neihgbor is your family. Current members are christian believers. Strong faith or acceptance is strongly reccommended. Maybe the person next door needs someone to assist with their socks or help them out of bed. Prepare a meal or two. Group meals will be provided 3 times a day. Food cost are included in membership dues. Members will be approved through an in person interview and voted in by other members. Pets will be allowed. The community is in it's beginning stages. Operation projected for February 2009. Waiting list is already in existance.
